When a new child starts the parents and child are invited to come and view the nursery. Rachelle or Stacey will give the parents a show around and explain the daily running of each room and talk about our nursery ethos. Parents are welcomed to ask any questions.
Parents will be set up a parent account on babysdays and here they are able to view and sign all our policies and procedures, prior to their child starting. These are available to view at any time.
Parents are assigned an initial starting questionnaire to ask information we feel is relevant to the settling in period for their child, this helps the key person begin to build that bond, based on the child’s interests, likes and dislikes.
Parent information is shared in a termly newsletter, we also have an information board where parents pick up and drop off. Information we may receive from outside agencies, such as parent forums and support groups will be shared to our closed parent Facebook group.
We have an open-door policy for all parents, and we pride ourselves on getting to know parents on a more personal level. The manager, senco and admin all have separate email addresses so parents can go directly to the correct person with any enquiries. If parents would like a more in-depth conversation about a concern, we make time for them to come in and have a chat or a phone call with the relevant person.
Parents are sent focus week forms the week before their child’s focus week. Parents are very fond of this and respond well to focus forms. Parents send us pictures of what their family have been up to and let us know their child’s current interests, also what they are focuses on at home in regard to their child’s development and what they are hoping to see from focus week.
They are then given feedback once their child’s focus week has ended, children have a daily diary that parents can view with photos, food menu’s, nappy changes, bottle feeds and sleep times that are recorded in real time. Parents often use the comment section on their child’s photos throughout the day.
